i hate doing grown up shit
i have been trying for hours to get a series of mundane grownup tasks done with 0 results and i just need to bitch about it. i've had people comment to me that i "just need to do the thing" as a suggestion for overcoming my ADHD and this is a perfect example of the bullshit i can never remember to respond with.
i have had a huge pile of papers on my dining room table for weeks now. i'm finally sick of looking at it, plus i have research i should be working on, so what better time to tackle the doom pile. one of the things that made the "bitch you should do this" pile was a letter i got in the mail saying i was a victim of a data breach.
great. love that.
so step one was to see if this was even legit or some sort of scam. after about 20 minutes of googling (side tangent: what fucking search engine are we even supposed to use if we want decent results and no ai?! more ranting on that later) and a slight class action lawsuit rabbit hole, i decided it was probably legit.
i followed the instructions in the letter to go to website and input my info. there's another 5ish min after security questions and all that. ding cool there's the email i click a link from to take me to the login i literally just set up.
nothing.
i refresh.
then: "We are unable to complete your login request at this time. Please try again later."
ok...
i close the tab and go back to the email to try again.
same shit.
ok... what's that? "Can’t log in to your account? Get help accessing your account"
cool click that and see what happens:
let's try to reset that password how about. maybe apple didn't save it correctly or something. enter my email and wait...
and wait...
do a couple chores... and wait...
nothing. not a single email in the inbox or spam.
then i have to google and go to the stupid outlook quarantine page because i can never find it.
nothing.
alright fine, i guess i need to contact someone. go back to the email with the original "set up was successful click here for login" stuff and see "If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out to our support team." this email is from a noreply address.
great. still loving this just so much.
go back to the crap ass "webpage" that barely even has a header and no footer to even speak of. you know the place you normally go to find a contact link. nothing. i have no way of contacting these people.
what the fuck am i supposed to do now? how about i bitch about it on the internet!
